§ 51.37. METER READINGS.

  • (A) The Council may provide a system of water meter reading by post card, meter reader or any other method deemed suitable to the purpose by the Council. The Council may also establish billing areas or districts and provide for the reading of meters as the Council determines suitable and necessary.
    (B) Whenever a customer questions the accuracy of the meter and desires that the meter be tested, the user shall pay a deposit to the city in the amount specified in the appendix to Chapter 35. If the meter tests accurate within the range of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) specifications, the deposit shall be retained by the city to cover part of the expense of making the test. In case the meter does not test accurate within the above-mentioned range, the deposit shall be restored to the customer and an adjustment will be made for the period of time the meter is assumed to be inaccurate, not to exceed two billing periods.
